Motivational Monday: Goals for 2016

2015 was overall a really good year for me and while I will be carrying all the good memories with me into this New Year, I want to talk to you guys about things that might have gone wrong in the old year.

Yes, you made mistakes. Yes, you said things you did not mean. And yes, you might have hurt a lot of people in your wake...but c'mon...you're ONLY human. The only way to make sure you don't repeat your mistakes, is if you sit yourself down and tell yourself:

I AM NOT THE SAME PERSON I WAS WHEN 2015 BEGAN.

And that year is now gone. It's become history. Focus on 2016. Write down lists of things you wish to do in this course of 366 days. (Yes, it's a leap year. So you get ONE whole day more for this year.)

Take a piece of paper and write down all the things you wish would happen in this year. Go ahead. Allow yourself to be crazy. Shut off the voice which goes, "Yeah...but this is unrealistic." Allow yourself to write down your wildest dreams. And then, put this list aside. It won't help to obsess over this list in your hand, therefore, keep it aside.

Keep checking back with your list every other month and see if things get checked off your list or not. I can guarentee you that 60% of the items will come true. (Unless you drown yourself in doubts and second guesses.)

If you have something from 2015 that is haunting you, the be Elsa. Sing "Let It Go" and remember that, "the past is in the past...." (That song literally saved my life when it came out. I've lost count of how many times I have seen that movie!)

Make 2016 a ME Year. Focus on yourself. Do things that make you feel good. And most of all, choose to be happy. (Not in the psycho 'Oh I am smiling but inside I'm falling apart' kind.) But choose things that would make you happy: a good playlist, going for runs, and even watching something postive and happy before going to sleep every night.

Today is the first Monday of the New Year. Make it count. Go make the list. And look forward to a year full of adventures.

And lots and lots of happiness!!!
